Became head pro at The Creek Club in Locust Valley, N.Y., in 2007

Qualified at Purchase, N.Y., sectional at Century C.C. and Old Oaks C.C., shooting 3-under 138

Grew up near Oakmont Country Club and began caddieing at 12; eventually worked his way up to picking range and the bag room, and became an assistant pro in 1992 after graduating from Mississippi State’s PGA professional management program

Also was head pro at Totterridge in Greensburg, the hometown of 2008 U.S. Open runner-up Rocco Mediate

Helped Mediate find housing for 2009 Open through a Creek Club member

Worked as an assistant at Seminole Golf Club in Florida in 2004, 2005 and 2006 during the winter months. Seminole pro is Bob Ford, who also is the longtime head pro at Oakmont and a past U.S. Open participant

Qualified for PGA Championship in 2004 and 2005 (missed cut)

Has three boys: Sam (12), Will (10) and Park (8); wife Lisa

Lives 17 miles from Bethpage and finished tied for sixth at 2007 New York State Open at the Black Course

Also made the cut in 2008 New York State Open at Bethpage

Thought Oakmont was toughest course he ever played until seeing the Black Course for the first time in 2007

"I hope it is really firm and fast because I am by far one of the shortest hitters. I’ve got six head covers in my bag already, including one for my putter. There is no telling how many hybrids I may have to carry [for the Black Course]."
